- Time To Move On
Press Release From 2002:
Ottawa’s Solid Blues Entertainment is bringing frontman Kim Wilson of The Fabulous Thunderbirds in from California for his first appearance in Ottawa in almost a decade!
Wilson will be the special guest of local guitar wizard JW-Jones for two nights of sizzlin’ hot blues at The Rainbow Bistro on January 11th and 12th, 2002. The two met in August when Wilson invited Jones to sit in with the Thunderbirds at a show in Syracuse NY. Needless to say, Jones is thrilled at the opportunity to share the stage once more with this blues-rock icon.
Well known as the best singer/harp player in blues today, the charismatic Wilson got his start in the 70s when he paired up with Jimmie Vaughan to form the Fabulous Thunderbirds. The compelling live act quickly achieved “cult classic” status, and went on to Top 40 success with hits “Wrap It Up” and the title track from their CBS/Epic recording Tuff Enough. Wilson’s fans range from aspiring blues players of all ages to the likes of Muddy Waters, who boosted Wilson’s profile early on, and Bonnie Raitt, with whom Wilson still makes concert appearances.
The JW-Jones Blues Band is fast attaining legendary status in Ottawa for the musical chemistry between Jones and Southside Steve, one of the youngest and most incredible harp players in Canada today! Their debut CD Defibrillatin’ has won fans all over the world, and it is no surprise that they are up for “New Artist of the Year” and “Harmonica Player of the Year” at the 2002 Maple Blues Awards, Canada’s most prestigious of blues honours, taking place at the end of January.
Wilson will also be making a guest appearance on the new JW-Jones Blues Band CD entitled Bogart’s Bounce, which will be released in the spring through NorthernBlues Music.
